At Wineskin Media, I craft books. A book isn't a mere package. Quite literally, a book is a work of art. A fine book travels a long journey from the concept to the printer-ready file, and I offer years of experience for every step of the way. Read more »

I've had the honor of editing and designing the 2009 Easter issue the new Catholic kids' magazine, St.
Mary's Messenger. Check out the sample pages (PDF, 13 MB).
Watch this spot for the new cover for the American edition of Jobs of Our Own, by Race Mathews. Even if I wasn't resetting the text with LaTeX and making a new cover with photos sent directly from Mondragon, I'd say that this is one of the most exciting new distributist books I've seen—and from an exciting new distributist press. It's a history of distributism, but goes beyond Chesterton, Belloc, and even the original League to later, real-life distributist action in both Canada and the Basque Country. Race chronicles both failures and successes; but contrary to some expectations, the mistakes in this book give way to success.
I'm pleased to announce the new 2009 Social Justice Engagement
Calendar, which will be available in late 2008 from IHS Press. Have you ever wondered what the Catholic Church actually says, in writing, about just wages, unions, advertising, consumer culture, migrant workers, or how First World economies should treat the Third World? Numerous Popes have written crisply on these and other topics of social justice—so much, in fact, that the stack of documents can be rather daunting. What if you could read a paragraph or two each week in your personal calendar? Read more »
UPDATE: Unfortunately, the calendar fell through with this
particular publisher for 2009. No worries; you'll see the 2010 edition
this fall!
Sanctifying the World: The Augustinian Life and Mind of Christopher
Dawson, by Bradley J. Birzer. (Front Royal, VA: Christendom Press, 2007.)
I'm rather proud of this book. Not as proud as the author, I imagine, but with 332 pages, over 1100 footnotes, and a final index of
over 20 pages, Sanctifying the World was occasionally strenuous. Good thing I wasn't trying to
click my way through. Without BibTeX (a standard LaTeX extension) automatically handling each footnote and checking whether or not it was the first citation for that source, I might still be working on it.
My one regret is that wavy effect in the top left corner. Unfortunately, it was unavoidable with the scan we had to use.
You can now order Sanctifying the World directly from Christendom Press on their distributor's web site. (Note that the cover thumbnail is an older version.) As of this writing, the normal price of $30 is reduced to $24.
